A Young Lady Prevails Over Her Depression, Gets Alcohol Rehabilitation For Her Abusive And Excessive Drinking, And Increases Her Self Esteem
Emily was a forty-seven-year-old interior designer who was fed up with feeling depressed everyday of her life and fed up with her careless drinking behavior. In a word, she was angry with herself for spending her hard-earned money on a worthless habit, she was tired of going through broken relationship after broken relationship due to her irresponsible drinking, she was sick of feeling tired every morning, she hated the hangovers she went through on a regular basis, and she missed her old drive for doing various things she enjoyed.
On top of the perceptible alcohol-related health issues she now experienced, possibly the most damaging part of her drinking routine was the unreliable and deceitful person she had turned into. In her heart she knew that she had been less than truthful about her drinking behavior to her relatives, friends, and family and she also knew she had been less than truthful with herself about the "positive" effects of drinking. Not only this but she made excuses for wolfing down two or three drinks before going to social events and she also justified needing one or two drinks the very first thing in the morning so that she could cope with the "pressures" at work. Stated briefly, Emily got to a critical time in her life when she finally saw that she hit rock bottom and was now ready to commence the gradual climb back to health.
One of basic ways that Emily put her "plan" into operation was by requesting a transfer at her workplace. When her request was approved, she moved 500 miles away to a new part of the U.S. If nothing else, this beyond doubt made making new pals and dissociating herself from her old pals much simpler. Then she went to see a healthcare practitioner in her new town and scheduled an appointment for a thorough examination.
After meeting with the healthcare professional and going through a number of lab tests, it was decided that Emily had made the unfortunate change from alcohol abuse to alcoholism and, as a result, was in need of alcohol treatment and alcohol detox. At this stressful time, the physician made it a point to discuss the various alcoholic symptoms and the general symptoms of alcoholism. In addition to taking a lot of time focusing on Emily's alcoholism symptoms, the physician also told Emily that it was concluded that she was clinically depressed and in need of therapy for this medical condition.
Due to her readiness to follow through with the therapy regimen, after ten weeks of inpatient rehab, Emily was ready to start counseling on an outpatient basis. At this time, she started working at her new job and over the weeks began fortifying her body by taking vitamins, drinking spring water, living an alcohol-free lifestyle, eating wholesome foods, and working out.
After nearly ten weeks of outpatient treatment during which time she never experienced a relapse, Emily stopped going to alcohol treatment and instead started going twice every week to local AA meetings. Going to these meetings helped Emily follow through with her alcohol-free style of life, they gave her the support she required, and they served as a constant reminder of the adverse consequences that are related to abusive and careless drinking. Compared with her life just a few short months ago, life was now positive and loaded with promise that she could have never wished for or realized while she was involved in abusive and hazardous drinking behavior.
